The 47th edition of the Rencontres d'Arles, a leading international photography festival, launches on July 4 and runs until September 25, 2016. For the first time, the festival expands beyond its historic Arles venue to other Provencal cities including Avignon, Marseille, and Nîmes, under the series title Grand Arles Express. Organized by director Sam Stourdzé, the program features over 40 exhibitions and 137 artists. Notable participants include Andres Serrano, Don McCullin, Stéphanie Solinas, and William Klein. The festival is dedicated to Michel Tournier (1924–2016), co-founder of Les Rencontres d'Arles. Sections include Africa Pop, Singulier!, Après la guerre, Émergences, and Western Stories. Toilet Paper, the artist duo Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, customized a BMW i3 titled "Spaghetti Car" for the event.
