Renato Folini Opens New Gallery Space in Lugano with Nature-Struttura Exhibition

Renato Folini, a gallerist and collector for nearly thirty years, has opened a new space in Lugano. The inaugural exhibition, the first of a two-part series titled Natura-Struttura, features works by seven artists: Paolo Gioli, Vincenzo Cabiati, Cosimo Filippini, Debora Hirsch, Francine Mury, Valentina D'Amaro, and Roberto Fanari. Gioli, who passed away during the show, had two solo exhibitions at Folini Arte in 2004 and 2007. His works combine carnality with mechanical scanning, exemplifying the dialectic between bodily impulses and technological interference. Cabiati plays at the boundary between transparency and definition; Filippini's photographic prints find sculptural or graphic motifs in natural data; Hirsch's paintings emphasize the arcane aspect of digitalized nature; Mury merges pictorial discipline with cosmic flow; D'Amaro's arboreal landscapes remain suspended in a metaphysical dimension; Fanari's landscapes teeter on the verge of disappearance. The second part of the project will feature works by Italo Valenti, Giuliano Collina, Domenico D'Oora, Marco Grimaldi, Luca Mengoni, and Jaime Poblete. Curator Roberto Borghi invites viewers to "discern the structure in images that show us nature, and nature where structure visually imposes itself."
