Renata Lucas and Coco Fusco receive 2013 Absolut Art Award in Stockholm
The 2013 Absolut Art Award has been presented to two recipients in Stockholm, marking the first time the prize recognizes both artistic production and critical writing. Brazilian artist Renata Lucas was honored in the Art Work category, receiving €20,000 in prize money along with up to €100,000 to create a new piece that will be given to an institution partnered with Absolut. In the Art Writing category, New York-based interdisciplinary artist, writer, and lecturer Coco Fusco received €20,000 and up to €25,000 for publishing and distributing a new book with a major publishing house. Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, serving as jury president, announced the winners. Established in 2009, this award expanded its scope in 2013 to include both creative and scholarly contributions.
