Remo Salvadori's Dual Milan Exhibitions Explore Metal Alphabets and Spatial Perception

Italian artist Remo Salvadori (born 1947 in Cerreto Guidi) presents two concurrent exhibitions in Milan, at Building and Galleria Christian Stein, running until February 22, 2025. The shows feature works based on seven metals—lead, tin, iron, copper, mercury, silver, gold—that form his artistic alphabet. At Building, works are installed on the external (tin) and internal (lead) facade and across three floors, including "Non si volta chi a stella è fisso" (2024) in iron, a star-shaped column of eight parallelepipeds stacked five high with watercolor paper inserts. An environmental piece, "Alveare di rame" (copper beehive), spans nearly 25 meters and emits a vibrational sound. "Nove giornate" involved eight participants working with watercolor. At Stein, eight works titled "Nel momento" (2024) hang on high walls, alongside "Lente liquida," an installation of Bohemian glass, water, copper, and gold leaf. Salvadori references Henri Focillon, Mark Rothko's Houston Chapel, and uses easels as archetypes of gaze. The exhibitions emphasize relational experience and the observer's role, with texts by Marco Biraghi and Sergio Risaliti.
