Remembering Luisa Perlo, Co-Founder of a.titolo

Luisa Perlo, co-founder and president of the curatorial collective a.titolo, died on the night between August 5 and 6, 2022. She was a curator, art historian, journalist, and cultural planner. In January 1997, she strongly advocated for the creation of a.titolo, a non-profit organization that works on public art, exhibitions, artist productions, workshops, conferences, and publications. The collective operates horizontally without hierarchy, and Perlo provided its rigorous yet passionate method. Her research focused on the relationship between art, public sphere, community, and citizenship, using public art projects, workshops, seminars, and experimental training programs. She viewed public art as a reasoning process and the 'common' as a daily practice. Perlo wrote extensively on art in public space, including a 2008 essay in the volume 'Nuovi Committenti, arte contemporanea, società e spazio pubblico' (Silvana Editoriale) describing Claudia Losi's 'Aiuola Transatlantico' garden in Turin. She is survived by her mother, husband Marco, and brother Alberto. The collective a.titolo includes Giorgina Bertolino, Francesca Comisso, Nuria Gatti, Nicoletta Leonardi, and Lisa Parola.
