Rembrandt's 'Adoration of the Magi' Rediscovered in Roman Private Collection
A painting from a private collection in Rome has been confirmed as an authentic Rembrandt (Leiden, 1606 – Amsterdam, 1669) following observations made by restorer Antonella Di Francesco during its restoration. This revelation was shared at a symposium hosted by the French Academy in Rome, which was inaugurated by Guido Talarico, president of Foundation Patrimonio Italia. Art historian Marco Mascolo attributed the work to 1633, describing it as an oil on paper mounted on canvas with several glazes. There are three other versions: two located at the Hermitage and one at the Gothenburg Museum. High-resolution imaging was utilized by Peter Matthaes, while physicist Stefano Ridolfi created a novel anti-counterfeiting patent. Alessandro Caucci Molara contended that the Roman piece exhibits superior style.
