Rembrandt and Vermeer Masterpieces to Debut at Louvre Abu Dhabi
From February 14 to May 18, 2019, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is hosting its inaugural international exhibition of the year, featuring the Dutch Golden Age. Titled 'Rembrandt, Vermeer & the Dutch Golden Age: Masterpieces from The Leiden Collection and the Musée du Louvre,' the event showcases over 90 artworks, including 22 pieces illustrating Rembrandt's full artistic journey. Curator Lara Yeager-Crasselt notes the exhibition explores Rembrandt's evolution through 15 selected works while celebrating 17th-century Dutch genre painting. Notably, Vermeer's renowned pieces, 'Young Woman Seated at a Virginal' and 'The Lacemaker,' will be shown together for the first time in 300 years.
