Reinhard Mucha's Milan Exhibition Explores Architecture, Memory and Industrial Materials
From November 24 to April 1, Galleria Lia Rumma in Milan is hosting an exhibition by Reinhard Mucha. Central to this display is the installation 'Island of the Blessed' (2016), featuring a roof constructed from 4,732 handmade terracotta tiles, measuring 12.2m by 12.6m, resting on rubble, accompanied by sounds from Düsseldorf airport. A white platform supports a turret made of six float-glass panes along with step stools mounted on metal tape measures. On the first floor, visitors can view 'Die Verwandlung' (2016), a miniature version of 'Mutterseelenallein' (1989) equipped with LCD monitors. The top floor includes 'The Wirtschaftswunder, To the People of Pittsburgh' (2016) and 'Twelve Lithographs' (1983–2016). Mucha's art incorporates industrial materials and references Salvatore Settis's 2016 book 'If Venice Dies.'
