Regina Parra's Solo Exhibition 'Eu me levanto' at FAMA Explores Body Dynamics

Regina Parra's solo exhibition 'Eu me levanto' is on view at Fábrica de Arte Marcos Amaro (FAMA) in Itu from December 17 until March 9. The exhibition title references a poem by American poet Maya Angelou, whose writings are gaining prominence in intersectional gender discussions in Brazil. Parra's artistic journey began with painting lessons at age 11, followed by studies in Visual Arts and performing arts under Antunes Filho at the Centro de Pesquisas Teatrais (CPT). She later resumed visual arts education at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris and graduated from Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado in São Paulo. In 2019 alone, Parra participated in seven group shows and two solo exhibitions, maintaining a consistent exhibition schedule since her formation. The exhibition resulted from an open call for residency launched by the institution. A video of the performance 'Lasciva,' presented at the show's opening in December, is available for viewing.
