Reggio Emilia pressures mount to cancel Kanye West concert

Growing pressure is being exerted on Reggio Emilia to call off Kanye West's performance at the Hellwatt festival on July 18, following his antisemitic remarks. Michele de Pascale, the regional president, emphasized that there is no tolerance for those who promote Nazi ideologies. Emanuele Fiano, a deputy, appealed to Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi to apply laws against the glorification of fascism. Pina Picierno, Vice President of the European Parliament, urged the Italian government to take action. The Jewish Community of Modena and Reggio Emilia has requested the concert's cancellation. Mayor Marco Massari pointed out that the administration does not have jurisdiction over private events. Festival organizers defended West's appearance, with artistic director Victor Yari Milani seeking an apology. West's previous concert cancellations in various nations were also highlighted.
