Reem Fadda Wins Walter Hopps Award for Curatorial Achievement
Reem Fadda, a Palestinian curator, has been awarded the Walter Hopps Award for Curatorial Achievement, which includes a $20,000 prize. This biennial accolade, created in 2001 to honor Walter Hopps, the founding director of the Menil Collection, acknowledges significant contributions to contemporary art by early to mid-career curators and is supported by the Collection. Guggenheim Foundation's Abu Dhabi Project from 2010 to 2016. She directed the Palestinian Association for Contemporary Art from 2005 to 2007 and co-founded the International Academy of Art Palestine in 2006. Her notable exhibitions include the UAE Pavilion at the 2013 Venice Biennale and the 2009 Venice Biennale's Ramallah Syndrome. She co-curated the Riwaq Biennale in 2009 with Charles Esche and earned a Fulbright scholarship for her PhD at Cornell University.
