Red Gate Residency and Bundanon Trust Launch Cross-Cultural Artist Exchange Program

institutional · 2026-04-20

Applications are now open for a unique artist exchange program between China and Australia. The Red Gate Residency and Bundanon Trust have partnered to offer opportunities for one Chinese and one Australian artist to participate in reciprocal residencies. Selected artists will spend four weeks in Beijing during May 2019, working from studios located in Feijiacun Village in northern Beijing. The Australian portion of the exchange runs from November 23 to December 21, 2018, at Bundanon's purpose-built studios along the Shoalhaven River on New South Wales' south coast. Both organizations welcome professional artists and thinkers from all disciplines, whether applying individually or in groups. Red Gate Gallery established its residency program to provide international artists, curators, writers, and academics with opportunities to live and create in China, hosting approximately 40 artists annually. Founded in 1993, Bundanon Trust supports artistic engagement through residencies, education, performances, and exhibitions, benefiting around 300 artists each year through its Artist-in-Residence program. Participants will collaborate with other international practitioners at both locations.
