Reborn House by DARE: Transforming a 30-Year-Old Bangkok Home

DARE – Design Arena + Research has finished renovating a three-decade-old residence in a suburban area of Bangkok, now called Reborn House. Spearheaded by Miwa Negoro, this project responds to the challenges created by a new public street that disrupted the previously tranquil neighborhood, leading to increased traffic and diminished privacy, security, and green spaces. The original design, reflecting early modern Thai architecture, included segmented rooms and intricate hip roofs with wooden features. Completed in 2024, the renovation spans 145 square meters and was directed by principal architect Kunnapat Wongthavornman, alongside team members Suchawadee Tansuwan and Natrada Chatritdhichaikul. Treschic Design and Lertsilp Furniture served as the general contractor, utilizing materials from various suppliers. Rungkit Chareonwat captured the project in photographs. The renovation sought to enhance the home’s functionality and comfort while honoring its architectural legacy.
