Rebelote: Four Rounds of Curated Encounters at Le Houloc

From June 18 to July 12, 2020, the independent art space Le Houloc in Aubervilliers hosted "Rebelote," a four-week exhibition series involving 19 artists and four independent curators. Each week, a different curator—Camille Bardin, Thomas Fort, Henri Guette, and Elora Weill-Engerer—randomly selected a group of artists by drawing names from a hat, creating unpredictable collaborations. The first round, curated by Thomas Fort, featured works by Mélissa Boucher, Marta Budkiewicz, Arthur Hoffmann, Alexandre Korzeniovski, and Mikaël Monchicourt, exploring collective and personal memory. Henri Guette's second round focused on perception and visibility with artists Ulysse Bordarias, Hugo Ferretto, Mathilde Geldhof, Camille Le Chatelier, and Lise Stoufflet. Camille Bardin's third round, titled "Boys Don't Cry," addressed masculinity through works by Jean Claracq, Lenny Rébéré, Mathieu Roquigny, and Romain Vicari. The final round by Elora Weill-Engerer remained undisclosed at the time of writing. The project emphasized chance, dialogue, and the vitality of independent spaces over commercial galleries.
