REAL Architects' THE SEED Pavilion Anchors Shanghai's West Bund Cultural Corridor

The SEED pavilion, designed by REAL Architects in collaboration with Challenge Design for Hongkong Land, is located at the geometric center of a terraced landscape in West Bund Central Phase II, Shanghai. The project, covering 230 square meters and completed in 2026, echoes the nearby West Bund Orbit to the south and serves as a key landscape anchor along the Xuhui riverside cultural corridor. This waterfront area has transformed over the past decade from an industrial coast into a continuous pedestrian cultural axis. The design team includes principal architects David He and Naiji Jiao, with team members Xiru Chen, Jing Wang, Ying Wang, Yuxuan Xu, and Yining He. The project was curated by HAN Shuang, with photography by XIRU IMAGERY. Consultants include Brandston Partnership Inc. (BPI), and construction was carried out by JAZ Build. The pavilion is part of the broader urban regeneration of Shanghai's West Bund area, contributing to the cultural and architectural landscape of the city.
