Rayyane Tabet's exhibitions explore history through objects at Parasol Unit and Metropolitan Museum
Rayyane Tabet explores historical narratives through neglected artifacts in his art. His piece, Steel Rings (2013–), comprises 39 steel rings inscribed with the coordinates of the Trans-Arabian Pipeline, which was established by American oil companies in 1947 and left unused after the Gulf War (1990–91). Tabet's exhibition, 'Rayyane Tabet: Encounters,' is on view at Parasol Unit in London from September 29 to December 14, 2019. Additionally, his work Alien Object, part of the Fragments series (2016–), will be showcased at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York from October 30, 2019, to January 18, 2020. Tabet pursued architecture at The Cooper Union and studied sculpture at UC San Diego. His personal piece, The Sea Hates a Coward (2015), features oars from his father's 1987 escape attempt from Lebanon.
