Rauschenberg exhibitions at Fondazione Cini during Venice Biennale

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Fondazione Cini in Venice will host two exhibitions of Robert Rauschenberg's work during the next Venice Biennale, promoted by the Faurschou Foundation, which has locations in Copenhagen and Beijing. The shows, titled "Us Silkscreeners…" and "Late Series," focus on the artist's mature period, including his international breakthrough. In 1962, Rauschenberg first encountered silkscreen printing during a visit to Andy Warhol's studio, leading to a new phase in his work that combined photography, newspaper clippings, painting, and silkscreen. The exhibition "Us Silkscreeners…" explores this technique, opening with two works from 1962: Rauschenberg's "Renascence" and Warhol's "One Dollar Bill." "Late Series" presents later series such as Shiners, Urban Bourbon, Night Shades, Borealis, Anagram, Scenarios, and Runt, with two works from each. A study room will offer deeper insight into Rauschenberg's research through film and literature. The Faurschou Foundation continues its mission to promote the artist's work, having previously organized initiatives in China and Scandinavia. Rauschenberg won the prize for best foreign artist at the 1964 Venice Biennale, the first American to do so.
