Raul Guerrero's inaugural solo exhibition at Ortuzar Projects in New York showcases 46 pieces created between 1971 and 1993. This exhibition marks his first collaboration with the gallery and features early Moroccan watercolors from 1971, which are being displayed publicly for the first time. Guerrero, born in 1945 in Brawley, California, currently resides in San Diego and emerged from the Southern California art movement of the 1970s. His artistic journey began at Chouinard Art Institute, where he drew inspiration from Marcel Duchamp. The exhibition includes works such as photography from the 1972 California Sur series, the 1974 readymade "Rotating Yaqui Mask," oil paintings from the 1984 Oaxaca series, and the 1974 film "Primitive Act." The show is open from June 21 to July 27, 2018, at 9 White Street, New York City.
