Rashid Rana appointed inaugural director of Lahore Biennale 2017
Rashid Rana is set to lead the first-ever Lahore Biennale in November 2017, which will be open to everyone for free and aims to engage with the local community beyond traditional gallery spaces. A graduate of the National College of Arts in Lahore and the Massachusetts College of Fine Arts in Boston, Rana is also a key faculty member and the Fine Art department head at Beaconhouse National University. His past solo shows include a retrospective titled Labyrinth of Reflections at Mohatta Palace Museum in Karachi in 2013, and he has exhibited in places like Cornerhouse in Manchester and Musée Guimet in Paris. Rana was part of the 2015 Venice Biennale and has shown work internationally in events like the Kiev Biennial and the Singapore Biennial. A survey exhibition is also planned at the Kiran Nadar Museum in New Delhi.
