Rare 2004 Video Interview with Cesare Tacchi Screened at Palazzo delle Esposizioni
A rare video interview with Cesare Tacchi (1940-2014), filmed in his studio in 2004, has been screened for the first time at Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome, as part of a major retrospective curated by Daniela Lancioni and Ilaria Bernardi. Tacchi, a key figure of the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo in the 1960s, had been largely overlooked by critics and the market in his later years, remembered mainly for his Tappezzerie from the mid-1960s. The interview was produced by Alberto Dambruoso, who knew Tacchi since the early 2000s and curated his last solo show in 2010 at the artist's loft in via Carlo Botta, Rome. Dambruoso frequented Tacchi's studio in Torrimpietra for a decade until the artist's death. The retrospective, still ongoing at Palazzo delle Esposizioni, was made possible by the meticulous archival work of Tacchi's wife Rossana Palma and daughter Gaia Lisa Tacchi. The video is one of very few filmed testimonies of the artist.
