exhibition · 2026-04-26

The exhibition "Rara Avis. Moda in volo" is currently taking place at the Uccelliere Farnesiane in Rome, showcasing high-fashion feathered garments and accessories, curated by Sofia Gnoli. It features two pavilions divided into three sections: Il Mito, Caleidoscopiche Visioni, and Le ALI, irreALI, reALI. Notable pieces include a white swan dress by Maria Grazia Chiuri for Christian Dior, a black swan creation by Alexander McQueen for Givenchy, a golden micro-dress by Donatella Versace for Katy Perry, and an outfit by Alessandro Michele for Gucci worn by Florence Welch at the MET Gala in 2019. The exhibit also offers immersive experiences with projections and sound. Alfonsina Russo, director of the Colosseum Archaeological Park, emphasizes the goal of enlivening these historical sites with cultural events. The Uccelliere, part of the Farnese Gardens on Palatine Hill, was designed by Cardinal Alessandro Farnese in 1537 and finished by 1628.
