Raquel Arnaud Celebrates 50 Years as a Leading Brazilian Gallerist with Archival Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Raquel Arnaud, a trailblazing gallerist from Brazil, marks her 50-year journey in the art scene with the exhibition "Galeria Raquel Arnaud – 50 anos," curated by Jacopo Crivelli Visconti and Marina Schiesari. This showcase highlights more than 500 exhibitions spanning from 1974 to 2023, creating a visual history of various artists and shows. Arnaud's artistic journey began in Guaratinguetá before she relocated to São Paulo, inspired by her art history studies at MASP and her time with modernist painter Lasar Segall. In 1973, she co-founded Gabinete de Artes Gráficas and launched her gallery in 1980, focusing on geometric abstraction and artists like Willys de Castro and Tomie Ohtake. The exhibition's design mimics a Möbius strip and will culminate in 2023, accompanied by a book set for release in May 2024.
