Raphael Rubinstein's Collected Criticism Published by Hard Press Editions

Raphael Rubinstein, a prolific art critic, has compiled his selected writings from 1990 to 2002 into a book titled "Polychrome Profusion: Selected Art Criticism: 1990 – 2002," published by Hard Press Editions in Lenox, MA, for $24.95. The collection includes his analysis of the controversy surrounding Kelley Walker's exhibition at the Saint Louis Contemporary Art Museum (CAM), which raised issues about race relations, freedom of speech, and the perception of hate speech. Rubinstein argues that if Walker had made a cogent argument for his art, there would have been less anger and outrage. The book also features a chapter on the Musée d'Art Moderne de Saint-Etienne, located near Lyon, about two hours south of Paris by TGV, highlighting how the fast train connects France and diminishes Paris's cultural monopoly. Rubinstein is also an author at artcritical, where he has written about a group show of two couples at the Sylvia Wald Po Kim Gallery through June 6.
