Raphaël-Bachir Osman's Playful Reappropriation of Painting Genres

Raphaël-Bachir Osman, born in 1992 in Creil, lives and works in Paris and Mulhouse. He graduated from HEAR, Strasbourg in 2017. His paintings reappropriate traditional genres with irony and displacement, often blurring the line between painting and object. For instance, his Mille-Feuilles series confuses canvas and cake, painted with a pastry bag. Osman's work has been exhibited at the 72e salon Jeune Création at Fondation Fiminco, Romainville (2022); Novembre à Vitry at Galerie municipale Jean-Collet, Vitry-sur-Seine (2021, 2019); solo show Terrain de jeux at Galerie Marguerite Milin, Paris (2021); Un monde à votre image, Révélations Emerige at Hôtel des Arts, Toulon and Villa Emerige, Paris (2020); Erotish at Chapelle XIV, Paris (2020); The Berlin Dog Show at Erratum Galerie, Berlin (2020); and Mulhouse 019 biennial, Mulhouse (2019).
