Raphaël à Chantilly: Master and Pupils at Musée Condé
The Musée Condé at the Domaine de Chantilly, one of the few French institutions to honor Raphael Sanzio (1483–1520) on the quincentenary of his death, presents a focused exhibition featuring three original paintings—The Three Graces, The Madonna of Orléans, and The Madonna of Loreto—alongside an extensive graphic oeuvre by the Renaissance master and his circle. The show traces Raphael's career from early sketches influenced by Perugino and Pinturicchio through Florentine religious compositions and Roman fresco studies, concluding with works by his pupils. The museum, second only to the Louvre in its collection of old master paintings, recently joined the network of Musées de France. Located in the medieval Château de Chantilly, 30 minutes from Paris, the exhibition runs from March 7 to July 5, 2020, in the Cabinet d'arts graphiques and Galerie de Psyché.
