Range Rover GT debuts with wellness-focused interior, electrostatic sound system

architecture-design · 2026-07-26

Range Rover is preparing three all-electric models—Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and the new Range Rover GT—with a focus on refined interior luxury rather than raw power. The GT, undergoing final testing, is the brand's lowest model at 1.56 m high, with an extended wheelbase enabled by the electric powertrain. Its interior features a 'reductive design' by chief designer Alex Watkin, hiding cup-holders, fridge, and switchgear behind clutter-free surfaces. An industry-first electrostatic sound system with 21 speakers, four bass speakers, subwoofers, and seat/floor transducers debuts in the SV Ultra model. Range Rover collaborated with Coventry University's music department to create wellness tracks paired with massage programs. Six fragrance capsules (named Peace, Restore, Rejuvenate) plug into the glove compartment. The GT replaces the traditional instrument cluster with a single HMI screen. Upholstery uses stretch PV instead of leather for seamless panels, sustainability, and odorlessness. Speakers and airbags are hidden behind low-gloss knitted fabric. The GT is the first all-electric Range Rover on Jaguar Land Rover's Electrified Modular Architecture, with a hybrid version planned later. It follows the Range Rover EV and Range Rover Sport EV, the latter announced at Goodwood 2026.
