Ramsden House: A Melbourne Home Inspired by Sebald's 'The Rings of Saturn'
James Harbard Architects has completed Ramsden House, a 250 m² family home in Australia, completed in 2025. The design draws heavily from W. G. Sebald's 'The Rings of Saturn', a reflective travelogue that layers personal and international histories. The project was curated by Miwa Negoro, with lead architect James Harbard, builder Agora Homes, engineer Clive Steele Partners, and styling by House of Paule. Photographs were taken by Pier Carthew. The architects describe the home as assembled from fragments of memory, revealing the complexity and disorder in individual relationships to history, culture, and the past.
