Ramdom: From Lecce to Gagliano, Building an Independent Art Ecosystem in Southern Italy
Founded by Paolo Mele and Luca Coclite in Lecce, Ramdom has evolved into a global contemporary art platform. It commenced with the Default project in 2011, showcasing 30 artists, such as Céline Condorelli and Alfredo Cramerotti. The second iteration in 2013, in collaboration with Arthub Asia, presented 20 artists alongside 10 guests. In 2015, Ramdom launched Lastation in Gagliano del Capo, with support from Fondazione con il Sud. Notable collaborations include artists like Andreco and filmmaker Carlos Casas, whose work is set to be displayed in Shanghai in April 2017. Ramdom has also participated in events like ArtVerona (2014) and Residency Unlimited (2016). The forthcoming Default 2017, curated by Heba Amin and Francesca Girelli, promises innovative exhibitions.
