Raimonds Staprāns Centenary Retrospective at Latvian National Museum of Art

To commemorate Raimonds Staprāns' 100th birthday, the Latvian National Museum of Art will present a major retrospective of this Latvian émigré artist. The exhibition, named 'Raimonds Staprāns. The Architecture of Silence', is set to run from August 14, 2026, to January 17, 2027, in the fourth-floor galleries. It will feature artworks that have never been shown in Latvia before and will delve into Staprāns' artistic evolution, from his early paintings in the 1950s to his later works in the 21st century. Curator Dr. art. Elita Ansone selected pieces from the artist's San Francisco studio in spring 2025, emphasizing his distinctive style. Staprāns (1926–2026) was a celebrated painter and playwright, making this exhibition a significant milestone for his centennial celebration.
