RAID Caterpillar: Live Cinema and Public Art in L'Aquila's Historic Center

On September 8, 2019, RAID Caterpillar was held in the historic center of L'Aquila, which had been affected by an earthquake. This event was organized by the non-profit Off Site Art, established in 2014 by Veronica Santi, and curated by Alessandro Brighetti. It showcased six hours of live-streamed cinema, performances, and the development of permanent public sculptures by eight artists. The initiative received funding from the 'Creative Living Lab – II Edizione' program by the Direzione Generale Creatività Contemporanea e Rigenerazione Urbana. Attendees could engage both on-site and online, viewing Santi's live film 'La dittatura del telecomando,' which features five directors and explores the theme of forced zapping. Notable participants included Marzia Migliora, Diego La Chioma, and for the first time, students from the local Accademia di Belle Arti.
