cultural-heritage · 2026-04-26

Rai Cultura is marking the 35th anniversary of the historic television program 'Fuori orario. Cose (mai) viste', which first aired on Rai 3 on November 2, 1989. Created by Enrico Ghezzi, among others, the show has become a landmark for auteur cinema, showcasing films rarely seen in mainstream schedules. Over the years, it has moved to Rai 5 and RaiPlay, continuing to produce original content from a vast archive. To celebrate, special weekend programming until November 11 features premieres of Frederick Wiseman's films during the US presidential elections, seven restored Chaplin shorts, all 25 hours of Alberto Grifi's footage from the 1976 Festival del proletariato giovanile at Parco Lambro, Gianni Castagnoli's restored experimental masterpiece 'La nott'e'l giorno', and Chantal Akerman's 'Jeanne Dielman', voted the greatest film of all time by Sight and Sound critics. Ghezzi described the program as 'a nocturnal place for cinema free from prime-time obsession,' emphasizing its critical and observational spirit attuned to contemporary history.
