Rai Cultura and Italian Ministry Launch Youth Heritage Program Officina Patrimonio

Officina Patrimonio, a new television program created by Rai Cultura and the Direzione generale Educazione, ricerca e istituti culturali of the Italian Ministry of Culture, aims to engage young people with Italy's cultural heritage. The series began airing on Rai Storia on September 18, 2023, with four weekly episodes every Monday at 22:40, also available on Rai Play. Each episode focuses on a theme: memory, discovery, adventure, and encounter. The first episode explored memory through locations in Rome, Celano, Prato, and Turin, covering topics from Latin epigraphs to the lost landscape of Lake Fucino and the history of rights from absolutism to the Italian Constitution. The second episode, aired September 25, 2023, visited Locri, Urbino, Venice, and Udine, focusing on discovery of cultural heritage and ancient techniques like tarsia and bookbinding. The third episode, scheduled for October 2, 2023, will center on adventure with stops in Genoa, Spoleto, Campobasso, and Bitonto. The program is described as a dynamic experience fostering participation, inclusion, and the recognition of cultural heritage as a common legacy to be safeguarded and transmitted to future generations.
