Ragusa Foto Festival 2017 Explores Human Impact on Environment
The Ragusa Foto Festival of 2017, hosted by Antiruggine, took place from June 30 to July 2 in Ragusa Ibla, Sicily, with exhibitions available until July 30 at Palazzo Cosentini. The festival's theme, "Le metamorfosi del territorio," highlighted photography that tackles global challenges such as climate change. According to founder Stefania Paxhia, the event aimed to provide a wider lens on issues like environmental decline and migration. Notable exhibitions included "Climate Change Evolution," curated by Hossein Farmani, which featured works like Francesco Zizola's "The dark side of the (honey) moon" and Peter Bauza's "Copacabana Palace," as well as "Territorio di formazione," curated by Paola Binante, displaying seven emerging Italian photographers. The Best Portfolio Award was presented to Giuseppe Iannello for "Gibellina 1968. Otto minuti dopo le tre," with a jury comprising Paola Binante, Enrico Bossan, Benedetta Donato, and Paolo Verzone.
