Raffaello Exhibition at GAMeC Bergamo Explores the Artist's Myth
The exhibition 'Raffaello e l’eco del mito' at GAMeC in Bergamo, organized by Accademia Carrara, presents Raphael's masterpieces alongside works by his contemporaries and later artists, tracing his enduring influence. Curators Maria Cristina Rodeschini, Emanuela Daffra, and Giacinto Di Pietrantonio structured the show in sections: Raphael's formation with works by Giovanni Santi, Perugino, Pintoricchio, and Signorelli; early masterpieces such as the Madonna Diotallevi from Berlin, San Michele from the Louvre, and panels from Sant'Antonio in Perugia; a focus on San Sebastiano from Accademia Carrara, temporarily replaced by a Giulio Paolini reinterpretation; the 19th-century rediscovery of Raphael with works by Faruffini and Schiavoni; and a contemporary section featuring Picasso, de Chirico, Donghi, Ontani, Fabro, Mariani, Vezzoli, and Roccasalva. The exhibition runs at GAMeC, Bergamo, in 2018.
