Rafael Pagatini Opens Solo Exhibition at European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights in Berlin
Rafael Pagatini, an artist from Caxias do Sul who lives and works in Vitória, Espírito Santo, opens a solo exhibition at the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights (ECCHR) in Berlin on May 18. The exhibition, titled "contra o colapso da memória," follows his participation in SP-Arte's Solo sector with Galeria OÁ. His work investigates archives and raises questions about Brazil's violent political history, specifically the manipulations and power strategies of the military dictatorship (1964–85) and its continuities. At the opening, Pagatini will converse with Renata Campos Motta from Freie Universität Berlin and ECCHR director Wolfgang Kaleck. Curator Diego Mattos describes the selection of images as a political gesture against memory collapse, fake news proliferation, and historical revisionism by far-right and reactionary sectors, noting its relevance during the era of Jair Bolsonaro.
