Radiohead Launch Triple Album Kid A Mnesia with Free Video Game Exhibition

digital · 2026-04-27

Radiohead released the triple album Kid A Mnesia in early November 2021, combining and expanding Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001) with a third disc, Kid Amnesiae, featuring unreleased tracks, new versions, and B-sides. The reissue celebrates the 20th anniversary of the albums, which marked the band's shift from rock to electronic experimentation. The true innovation is Kid A Mnesia: Exhibition, a free video game available on Epic Games Store and PlayStation 5. Originally conceived as a physical installation in London and other cities, the project moved to a digital space due to logistical challenges. The game is a collaboration between the band, singer Thom Yorke, producer Nigel Godrich, artist Stanley Donwood, computer artist Sean Evans, theater designer Christine Jones, audiovisual producer Matthew Davis, and studios [namethemachine] and Arbitrarily Good Productions, with support from Epic Games (developer of Fortnite and Unreal Engine). It is not a traditional game but an interactive audiovisual journey through the band's imagery, featuring rooms/songs, 3D music videos, and explorable environments. Notable sections include a room for "How to Disappear Completely," "Pyramid Song," and "You And Whose Army?" presented as a sequence, and a playable space for "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box." The game also unlocks the track "Untitled v1" in Fortnite. This follows Radiohead's 2014 mobile game Polyfauna, based on The King of Limbs.
