Radio Papesse Celebrates 15 Years: Interview with Founders

Radio Papesse, an online repository dedicated to visual and sound art, marks its 15th anniversary this year. Established in 2006 at Palazzo delle Papesse in Siena, it relocated to Florence's Villa Romana in 2011. The initiative was spearheaded by founders Carola Haupt, Ilaria Gadenz, and Cristiano Magi, in partnership with Marco Pierini, to create a web radio emphasizing the auditory aspects of contemporary art. The platform features on-demand content, including interviews, audioguides, and sound paths. Notable projects include LUCIA | La Radio al Cinema and the podcast Parlami di Lei. During the pandemic, Radio Papesse shifted to remote operations and introduced new productions. Collaborations currently include Villa Romana and Fondazione Alinari, with plans for art accessibility research and Suden Radio's tenth anniversary in 2023.
