Radio Capodimonte: first Italian museum-dedicated radio launches in Naples
A new radio station, Radio Capodimonte, dedicated exclusively to the Museo di Capodimonte in Naples, will launch in September 2018. The project is a collaboration between the museum, the Master in Radiofonia at the Università Suor Orsola Benincasa di Napoli, and the Campania Music Commission. Twelve one-hour episodes will be produced by master's students, with a pilot selected for a €1,000 scholarship. The station will feature interviews with artists and curators, news on guided tours and events, the history of the Real Fabbrica di Porcellane, and stories about the museum and its park. Episodes will be released weekly and available as podcasts on the museum's website. This initiative follows the model of Radio Papesse, Italy's first web radio dedicated to contemporary art, but focuses specifically on Capodimonte. Museum director Sylvain Bellenger, appointed in 2015, has been credited with modernizing the institution and expanding its contemporary programming.
