Rachele Maistrello Interview: Photography, Memory, and Fiction
Rachele Maistrello, born in Vittorio Veneto in 1986, pursued her studies at Università Iuav di Venezia, École nationale supérieure des Beaux-arts de Paris, and ZHDK Zürich. In 2020, she received the Graziadei Prize and was an artist-in-residence at MAMbo in 2019, also participating in residencies at Inside Out Museum Beijing. She earned the Movin’Up and NCTM e l’arte prizes in 2018 and was featured at Plat(t)form, Fotomuseum Winterthur. The following year, she secured the ABITARE grant from MiBACT. Her exhibitions include MAXXI Rome (2021) and Hamlet Zurich (2020). Maistrello's research investigates the interplay of truth and fiction, utilizing photography to challenge its documentary essence while merging historical memory with personal experiences.
