R4 Video Art Festival Announces 2014 Winners

The R4 video art festival, held on June 26, 2014 at La Pagode cinema in Paris, awarded prizes to young artists. The festival was organized by R4 in partnership with Harvard University's Department of Visual and Environmental Studies, the Haute Ecole d'Art et de Design in Geneva, the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Le Fresnoy in Tourcoing, Galerie Jousse in Paris, the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Centre d'Art Contemporain in Geneva, and the Swiss Embassy. It featured two categories: videos under 5 minutes and videos 5-20 minutes, open to students and alumni under 30 from the four partner schools. Twenty selected films were screened publicly with artists present. A jury of film and art professionals deliberated, followed by an award ceremony at the Swiss Embassy. The R4 Prize winners were Léandre Bernard-Brunel for "Après Watteau/d'après Watteau" (under 5 min) and Florent Meng for "Notes sur H2" (5-20 min). Their works will be exhibited in July at Galerie Jousse and in September at the Centre d'Art Contemporain de Genève, acquired by R4, and donated to a major French museum, with the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris as priority. The Swiss Embassy Prizes went to Irène Billard for "Alain" (under 5 min) and Jessica Bardsley for "Southern Land" (5-20 min).
