QUT Appoints Dr Ashley Hay as Establishing Editor of Meanjin
Dr. Ashley Hay has been appointed as the Establishing Editor of Meanjin by Queensland University of Technology (QUT), overseeing the literary journal's move to its new location. Previously the editor of Griffith Review, Hay will manage the publication of new works, set up ongoing operations, and assist in finding a permanent editor within the next year. Meanjin is set to resume its online presence later this year, with a print edition scheduled for late 2026 to celebrate its 85th volume. In January, QUT took over as the journal's custodian, bringing it back to Brisbane after 80 years in Melbourne. Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Sheil highlighted the journal's inception in Brisbane in 1940 by Clem Christesen and its influence on Australian literary culture. A permanent editor is anticipated by late 2026.
