Quirino De Giorgio monograph wins DAM Architectural Book Award
The 12th edition of the International DAM Architectural Book Award, organized by the Frankfurt Book Fair and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (DAM), selected ten winners including the monograph "Quirino De Giorgio: An Architect's Legacy." Written by architects Michel Carlana, Luca Mezzalira, and Curzio Pentimalli, with contributions from photographer Enrico Rizzato and graphic designer Lorenzo Mason, and published by Park Books (Zurich, 2019), the book reconstructs the career of Italian architect Quirino De Giorgio (died 1997), a figure spanning the entire 20th century from Futurism through Fascism to experiments with reinforced concrete. Most of his buildings are located in Veneto. The project took five years and was born from the authors' accidental discovery of De Giorgio's works during their training. The book deliberately avoids a traditional monograph format, instead blending a photographic atlas with a narrative biography across 400 pages. The award recognizes the extensive research effort. The authors are now working on a new, different editorial project.
