Quinlan Releases Two Photography Books: Gasperini's Artist Book and Desole's Study on Postwar Italian Erotica
Quinlan, an Italian publishing company, has launched two photography volumes. The first, titled 'A macchia di leopardo' by Renato Gasperini, is a limited artist's edition featuring 120 signed and numbered copies. Accompanying the images is a text by artist Sabrina Ragucci, who interprets them through the perspective of Vincent van Gogh's chair. Gasperini, who hails from Ancona and has been active since 1990, employs irony to investigate the peculiarities of modern landscapes. His color photographs, influenced by Luigi Ghirri, capture fragmented realities, interiors, and nocturnal scenes. The second volume, 'L'immagine oscena. Giurisprudenza della fotografia erotica nell'Italia del dopoguerra' by Angelo Pietro Desole, printed on pink paper, explores photography's social and anthropological significance in postwar Italy, documenting the Church-led moral campaign against nude women in magazines during a time of societal transformation.
