Quiet Ensemble Brings 'Natural Electronic' Installations to Ortigia Sound System 2018

The Ortigia Sound System, an electronic music festival taking place from July 25 to 29, 2018, on the island of Ortigia in Syracuse, will feature interactive light installations by the Italian artistic team Quiet Ensemble, composed of Fabio Di Salvo and Bernardo Vercelli. Since 2009, the duo has been recognized for merging technology with natural elements. They previously designed the ANTILIGHT installation for Liberato's performance at Club To Club in Turin during the 2017 art week. For this festival, they will present 'Naturale Elettronico' (Natural Electronic), a vibrant jungle where LED screens and sharp light beams interact with live plants, especially papyrus. Their installations will complement acts from artists such as Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Jimothy Lacoste across three stages, including the medieval Castel Maniace and the historic market of Ortigia, where the light display will harmonize with the venue's architecture and the music's beat. The duo drew inspiration from Sicily's dominant natural beauty to craft a forest-like atmosphere within a digital context.
