Quentin Tarantino's Cut Kill Bill Scene Debuts Inside Fortnite

Quentin Tarantino has released a lost chapter from Kill Bill: Volume 1 (2003) inside the video game Fortnite, developed by Epic Games. Titled The Lost Chapter: The Revenge of Yuki, the 3D animated short depicts the Bride (Uma Thurman) battling Yuki, the sister of Gogo Yubari (Chiaki Kuriyama), who seeks vengeance for her sister's death. The scene was originally written for the film but cut due to budget constraints; Tarantino estimated it would have cost an additional $1 million. In a 2004 interview with IGN, he expressed a desire to eventually produce it as a Japanese-style animation. The project was realized using Unreal Engine, Epic Games' development toolkit, and Fortnite's 3D models. Notably, the yellow Chevrolet Silverado driven by the Bride is censored in the trailer. The Revenge of Yuki will be screened within Fortnite on November 30 at 8 PM Italian time, with virtual doors opening 30 minutes early. In the US, Canada, and the UK, it will be shown alongside Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair starting December 5. Three Fortnite skins modeled after the Bride, Gogo, and Yuki will also be released. Tarantino is not the first filmmaker to use game engines; Unreal Engine has been used in productions like Disney's The Mandalorian, and Neill Blomkamp's Oats Studios collaborated with Unity on the Adam series. Fortnite has previously hosted narrative content bridging film plots, such as Emperor Palpatine's message from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
