Quayola's Pleasant Places at Cubo Unipol Bologna

exhibition · 2026-05-05

Cubo – Centro Unipol Bologna presents Pleasant Places, a solo exhibition by digital artist Quayola, curated by Federica Patti and running until April 1. The show references 17th-century Flemish landscape painting and van Gogh's later period, exploring the boundary between reality and fiction through computer vision. Central is an ultra HD video shot in the Provence countryside that inspired van Gogh, accompanied by 3D scans of the same landscapes. Quayola (born 1982 in Rome, lives in London) uses high-resolution scanning and rendering to achieve near-infinite image definition. The exhibition includes a video where Patti and the artist discuss his working methods and the project's origins.
