Quarantine Portraits: Carlotta Stracchi Villa's Remote Family Photography Project
Carlotta Stracchi Villa launched Quarantine Portraits – Fotografie contro la paura, a photography project capturing Italian families remotely via webcam during Italy's COVID-19 lockdown. Starting after the Prime Minister's decree of March 8, 2020, which imposed restrictions in Lombardy and 14 provinces before extending nationwide, the project documents families at home, seated on sofas, beds, or desks, facing the camera. Each portrait includes a caption with location, names, and a quote from the subjects. The goal is to create an archive of images and stories as a historical record of Italian life during quarantine. The project was published in Artribune Magazine #55.
