Quarantine Collective Documentary Call for Submissions
A team of filmmakers and anthropologists based in Bologna has launched a call on Facebook for audiovisual content to create a collective documentary titled 'Quarantena' about life in Italy during the coronavirus lockdown. The project is inspired by Gabriele Salvatores' 'Italy in a Day' (2014), which itself was an Italian version of Kevin Macdonald's 'Life in a Day' (2011), produced by Ridley and Tony Scott. Salvatores' film collected 44,197 videos totaling 2,200 hours of footage, from which 632 clips were selected to create a 75-minute film. The current project aims to replicate this model, inviting Italians to submit multimedia material documenting their daily experiences under quarantine. The deadline for submissions is April 4, 2020. Artistic contributions such as music, paintings, and videos are also welcome and may be used in the soundtrack or poster, or shared on the project's social channels. Once completed, the documentary will be initially available online, with potential broadcast on television if interest arises. The project is organized by a group of housemates who are filmmakers and anthropologists currently confined in Bologna.
