Quadriennale's comprehensive survey of 21st-century Italian art

institutional · 2026-04-27

Since 2022, Gian Maria Tosatti has served as the artistic director of the Quadriennale in Rome, where he has introduced a program aimed at documenting and showcasing 21st-century Italian art. This initiative features the exhibition series Quotidiana at Palazzo Braschi, which includes Paesaggio (bimonthly two-person exhibitions) and Portfolio (solo displays by artists aged 35 and under). A total of nine Paesaggi highlighted 18 artists, while 17 Portfolios were presented. All exhibitions are free and accompanied by catalogues. The project also produces the quarterly journal Quaderni d’arte italiana and the Annuario d’arte italiana, managed by Raffaella Perna. Additionally, the Panorama series has featured over 450 studio visits with young artists. The upcoming Quadriennale exhibition is scheduled for 2025, emphasizing the scarcity of Italian museums dedicated to emerging talent.
