Quadriennale di Roma Launches Online Storytelling Series

digital · 2026-04-27

The Quadriennale di Roma has launched an online series titled "Partita doppia: storie d’arte dalla Quadriennale tra passato e futuro" to narrate its exhibition through dialogues between 43 participating artists and key figures from Italian art history and past Quadriennali. Curated by storyteller Luca Scarlini, the series draws on the Quadriennale's archive and library, spanning 90 years of Italian history. It covers topics from the fascist era to Rome's art patrons, the expulsion of Jewish artists from the 1939 Quadriennale, and incursions into performing arts, sports, and nightlife, as well as the protests of the 1960s and the Years of Lead. The result is 41 short films, each 3 minutes long, directed by Gian Claudio Pallotta and produced by the Rome-based filmmaker group Studio Cliche. The series is available on the Quadriennale's website.
